ProtoStar Overview
Knowing what to expect is important when working with a new partner. Vesta's process to get your product from concept to reality goes like this:
Initial Consultation
Vesta Technology is committed to creating microcontroller - based solutions for our customer's specific applications and product concepts. When you contact Vesta, one of our engineers will work with you to define the specific requirements and constraints of your product. Our development team will then explore alternative approaches and select one that best meets your performance and cost objectives.
Proposal
Once we understand your requirements, we will provide you with a proposal that includes:
- Design description
- Specifications for the application program, if included
- Project schedule
- Cost for non-recurring engineering and one prototype
- Cost for additional prototypes
- Estimate of production per-unit and startup costs
Usually this proposal is provided in a week or less.
Customer Approval
Upon acceptance of the proposal Vesta will complete the detailed embedded systems design. As work progresses, you will be provided documents for approval including schematic and drawings for the Application Specific Board (ASB), and drawings for any enclosures. Once the design details are approved, first-article boards will be ordered, built and tested, and delivered to you usually six to ten weeks from the start date.
Following delivery of first-articles, Vesta will provide a written quote for production of the product including electronics, enclosures (if needed) and cable assemblies. This will include per-unit pricing at the estimated volume, along with one-time costs for setup and tooling.
